Need help with a ps3 question?

I have a Playstation 3 System and I have a video game that I just bought and before I bought it I waited a few months so that I did not have to pay the full price for it which is $59.99 and I could buy it used for 29.99 at a local store that I live near that always sells used video games for lower prices after about 3 to 4 months after they come out. Now I did my rearch on the playstation store and saw that they did have some game add ons for the game which you can buy for $1.99 and other ones that are free. Now I never will ever buy any thing from the playstation store that will cost me money I will only buy from there if I can get it for free. I will do this because I had a playstation 3 system that ended up getting the red blinking light of death and I have no clue why I got it because I always shut my ps3 system down when I am not using it and I turn it off from the back of the system as well as unplug it from my power source just in case I ever loose power to my house. Now I called up sony and they said I still had my warrenty so they send me a prepaid box I sent it to them they couldn't fix it so they sent me a brand new system but I lost all my data on it so that is why I will never buy from the playstation store unless it is free in case that happens to me ever again. I did not buy anything from there on my first system so that was good I just lost my games and data I had saved from the first system. Now I know the psn network was hacked into and they had to shut it dwn for a while to fix it and I am now finally back on it and it is up and running. However I have now just tryed to sign onto the playstation store to try and get the free add ons to my game and it says it is undergoing maintenance. Now would this be do to the fact that someone hacked into the psn network and they are still trying to fix it? Also when will it be back up and working anyone know?
