Ive got a dental absses......?

Friday i had a dentist appoint to get root canal done and my dentist couldnt finish it so she capped bt bt since i left the dentists ive had a absses through this and ma right cheek is badly swollen like a chipmunk and my neck is sore with it is the normal? Having a sore neck when its being touched? Ive been giving penicillin and metronidazole how long will it take for the swelling to go dwn ?
